Pick up your reading logs starting June 1st!

Summer Reading at the Maquoketa Public Library will be during the months of June and July for children from birth to those going into the fifth grade in the fall. Logs will be available to pick up at the library starting on June 1st. Children will fill in a circle on the log for every day they read or listen to someone read to them. Children from birth to age two may also count fingerplays and rhymes as reading time. Children may also fill in a circle if they: Visit a (virtual) museum, View a (virtual) concert or play,  Do a Bedtime Math problem, Perform a Random Act of Kindness, Play a board game, Do a puzzle or color a picture, Visit the Library’s website, Take a walk, Write a poem or Sing a song.

Children have until the end of July to return the logs. The log needs the child’s first and last name on the form, the grade he/she will be in the fall, and a phone number where your child can be contacted if he/she is awarded a Grand Prize. The items for the prizes will be displayed on the library’s Facebook page and at the library and your child can pick the item he/she would like to have a chance of winning. All winners will be contacted in August to arrange a time for the prizes to be collected.
